July Meeting – Tustin Hibiscus Estate

Our July meeting is one not to miss! Every year we all look forward to our annual meeting at Dr Curtis’ home in North Tustin. Just when you think it can’t get any better with close to 300 exotic hibiscus and dozens of mature plumeria trees it has. Dr Curtis has taken it to another level which we didn’t know was possible and has remodeled his backyard building in a covered porch and adding close to another hundred exotic hibiscus and many more plumeria trees. So just when you thought you had seen it all at Dr Curits’ property there is lots more to see than ever before. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn how to grow exotic hibiscus in the outdoors year round and how the plants grow when in given the proper conditions to get gorgeous profusions of oversized blooms.

But wait! We have another awesome surprise in store and a first for our society. We will be holding our first flower show there. We have expert growers and hibiscus flower show legends Todd and Janelle Alvis from the Red Stick Chapter of the American Hibiscus Society who will be here visiting us and assist us with what promises to be a really fun event. They bring with them decades of experience and passion so we are going to ratchet up the flower excitement level to new heights. Bring your blooms and get ready to take tons of photos and videos. This will be an epic event not seen in these parts before! 

Lunch will be provided as well as another legendary hibiscus raffle and auction.  Family and friends are always welcome so please spread the word and have them contact us to get an invite out to them as well. This is a perfect opportunity to bring anyone who is new to the world of exotic hibiscus and introduce them to these beautiful blooming machines!
